BREAKING: Ex-Lagos PDP Gubernatorial Candidate Jandor Resigns from Party

By Abigail Philip David

Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The former Lagos State governorship candidate in the 2023 election announced his decision during a press briefing in Lagos on Monday.

Jandor cited widespread indiscipline and anti-party activities as key reasons for his departure, stating that such issues had become the norm within the party.

Surrounded by a large group of supporters, he accused some PDP leaders, including former Deputy National Chairman Chief Olabode George, of undermining the party’s chances in the 2023 elections.

On his next political move, Jandor said he would engage in broad consultations before deciding which party to align with.

“We will consult widely before making a decision on which platform to join. But for now, we have left the Peoples Democratic Party,” he said.

Jandor was previously a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and led the Lagos4Lagos Movement, which advocated for internal democracy within the party.

He joined the PDP in January 2022 and secured its gubernatorial ticket for the 2023 elections, where he finished third behind Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the APC and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party (LP).
