The FCT Minister Barr, Nysome Wike, has disclosed that the cost of renovating the International Conference Centre, ICC , in Abuja, stands 39 billion Naira.
Wike commended the contractor Julius Berger handling renovation work at the International Conference Centre, ICC, Abuja disclosed that the edifice will be commissioned by President Bola Tinubu in May as part of projects to mark his second year in office.
Wike made this known known on Wednesday when he went on inspection of the renovation of the Centre expressed assurance that the International Conference will be ready by May, 2025.
The FCT Minister during an inspection at the ICC, expressed satisfaction at the level of work by the contractor Julus Berger handling the renovation which will be completed by May disclosed said, “This is at the cost of 39 billion naira that we’re spending. 39 billion naira is not 39 million naira.”
The FCT noted that before the renovation of the edifice, said,” this place was an eyesore, and the President directed that we should shut it down and have a total rehabilitation of the International Conference Center.”
“We are happy with the state of work going on. We believe that by May ending, it is one of those projects that Mr. President will commission to mark his second year in office.”
Speaking on other ongoing projects within the capital city, the minister also expressed satisfaction at the spate of work at the various construction sites but pleaded with residents cooperate with the various contractors that are doing projects so we can have it on time completed.”
“When the rains come up now, it will be a problem, and then we will begin to say because of rainy season. Now that we have good weather, let us utilize it for the benefit of the public. So I still employ them, traditional rulers, youths, chiefs, everybody to support what we’re doing.”
The minister noted that the intentions of government are not to inflict hardship of the people, called out to residents to support the government, to carry out meaningful projects that will impact positively on their lives and the economy.
