The Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) has launched a sensitization and advocacy campaign on conflict resolution and dialogue across all 23 local government areas of Sokoto State.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening local capacity for conflict prevention and peaceful resolution, with a particular focus on addressing recurring herder-farmer clashes.
According to L-PRES, the campaign targets the root causes of resource-based conflicts by enhancing community-level mechanisms for dialogue and sustainable peace.
The project also seeks to promote policy dialogue as a means of addressing underlying issues contributing to local tensions.
Speaking during the launch, the State Project Coordinator, Sirajo Abubakar, highlighted the importance of local government conflict mitigation committees. He stressed their role in educating communities and fostering peaceful coexistence through dialogue and proactive engagement.
