Nasarawa 2027: Mada Nation Backs Gov. Sule for Senate

By Abel Leonard, Lafia

Stakeholders in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State have unanimously endorsed the state governor, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, to contest for the Nasarawa North Senatorial seat in the forthcoming general elections.

This decision was reached at a stakeholders’ meeting held yesterday at the VIP Lodge in Akwanga, where traditional rulers, political leaders, youth and women representatives, and elder statesmen converged to issue a communique calling on Governor Sule to heed what they described as a “clarion call.”

Reading the communique, the stakeholders commended the governor for what they termed his “exceptional developmental strides” across the state and, in particular, Nasarawa North Senatorial District. They highlighted massive infrastructural developments including roads, rural electrification, improved water supply, better healthcare delivery systems, and expanded educational facilities.

“His Excellency has transformed our senatorial zone through purposeful leadership and inclusive governance. We believe he is the right person to represent us at the Senate to consolidate on these gains,” the communique stated.

The stakeholders also praised Governor Sule’s efforts in human capital development, noting his focus on youth and women empowerment through skill acquisition, entrepreneurship, and job creation initiatives.

“His policies have lifted thousands of our people from poverty,” said Hon. Safiyanu I. Andaha, Executive Chairman of Akwanga LGC. “We cannot afford to let this quality of leadership fade with the end of his tenure as governor.”

According to Hon. Larry Ven Bawa, Chief Whip of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Governor Sule’s transition to the Senate would ensure continuity in representation, development, and strategic engagement at the national level.

Also speaking, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, the state Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development who coordinated the process, stated that “Engr. Sule’s integrity, vision, and competence make him an ideal candidate for legislative service.”

The stakeholders argued that the governor’s candidature enjoys wide acceptance across the three local government areas of the senatorial district—Akwanga, Wamba, and Nasarawa-Eggon—and would foster greater unity and political stability.

In their resolutions, the group unanimously endorsed Governor Sule to vie for the senatorial seat, vowed to mobilise grassroots support across all wards in Akwanga LGA, and appealed to stakeholders in Wamba and Nasarawa-Eggon to back the initiative for the collective good of the zone.

They also called on political parties and interest groups across Nasarawa State to rally behind Governor Sule in the interest of competence, continuity, and development.

“We firmly believe that his presence in the Senate will bring greater visibility and opportunities to Nasarawa North,” said Hon. Kassim M. Kassim, Chairman of the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB).

Among the signatories to the communique were Evang. Zachariah Barki, Commissioner, Local Government Service Commission; Hon. Sam Tsebe; Rt. Hon. Ntsentse Dandaura, former Deputy Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly; and Dr. Jonathan Thani, among others.

The meeting ended with a unanimous appeal to Governor Sule to accept the call to serve Nasarawa North in the Red Chamber.
