…Purported Removal from Office Mere Disinformation
By Francis Wilfred
The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) has dismissed rumours circulating online and in some media outlets regarding the alleged removal of Senator George Akume, CON, from office by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
In a press statement signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen, the OSGF described the claims as entirely false, misleading, and without basis.
“The purported removal of the SGF is a fabrication and a figment of the imagination of mischief makers bent on misinforming and disinforming the unsuspecting public,” the statement read.
The office emphasized that President Tinubu maintains unwavering confidence in Senator Akume’s ability to discharge his statutory responsibilities, particularly in the formulation and implementation of policies under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The public, media organisations, and digital platforms were urged to disregard the rumour and exercise caution by verifying the authenticity of information before dissemination. The statement warned that spreading unverified or deliberately false information undermines public trust and threatens the integrity of national institutions.
Furthermore, the office reiterated its alignment with the earlier press statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Strategy, Chief Bayo Onanuga, which reinforced Senator Akume’s continued role as SGF.
“Therefore, Senator Dr. George Akume, CON, remains the Secretary to the Government of the Federation,” the statement concluded.
