…Commends Lawmaker’s Selfless Contribution to State Security
By Noah Ocheni, Lokoja
The Kogi State Government has commended Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, Member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, for his unwavering commitment to the security and wellbeing of his home state, describing him as “a patriotic Kogite who leads by example.”
Hon. Faleke, an indigene of Kogi State, recently donated a brand-new Hilux patrol vehicle to support operations at the newly commissioned Smart Police Divisional Headquarters in Ekinrin-Adde, Ijumu Local Government Area.
The high-tech facility was established through the Nigeria Police Trust Fund in collaboration with the Kogi State Government, as part of ongoing efforts to modernize and digitize security operations across the state.
Speaking to journalists on Sunday, the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, conveyed Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s appreciation to the federal lawmaker. He noted that Hon. Faleke had exemplified what it means to prioritize security over politics and the people’s welfare above personal ambition.
“The Government of Kogi State wishes to reecho the open commendation earlier given by His Excellency during the commissioning of the Smart Police Divisional Headquarters,” Fanwo said.
“As a government, we deeply appreciate the demonstrative contribution of Hon. James Faleke to the state’s security architecture and infrastructure. This is a model of leadership—placing security above politics, and patriotism above personal gain.”
Fanwo further revealed that Hon. Faleke has played significant but discreet roles in supporting intelligence gathering, logistics, and coordination with security agencies, working in synergy with the State Government to enhance the protection of lives and property.
The Commissioner expressed confidence that Faleke’s latest intervention would significantly strengthen security, not only in Ijumu but across Okunland, Kogi West, and the entire state.
“This is one intervention we are confident will enhance security in Ijumu, Okunland, Kogi West, and Kogi as a whole. This is how to make a meaningful impact—through tangible action, not political theatrics. The people need genuine interventions that save lives, not self-serving gestures.”
Fanwo added that the people of Kogi are aware of those who are genuinely contributing to peace and security in collaboration with the government, and those who are merely playing politics with the lives of citizens.
The government also urged political and business leaders of Kogi origin to emulate Hon. Faleke’s example of responsibility and selfless service.
“Hon. James Faleke has set a worthy example. He has shown that the lives of his people matter. He is not doing this to protect personal investments or those of his associates; he is doing it to safeguard the people of Kogi—his people,” Fanwo said.
He also disclosed that the government is monitoring the activities of illegal miners and their collaborators, warning that anyone sabotaging the state’s security through economic crimes will face serious consequences.
“We are aware of the activities of illegal miners and their enablers. Let it be clear: Kogi State will not tolerate any act that endangers the lives of our people. We are taking bold steps to ensure that criminal elements do not disrupt the peace we are building,” he warned.
The Kogi State Government reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with patriotic stakeholders like Hon. James Faleke in its mission to secure all parts of the state and sustain the gains made in law enforcement and public safety.
