Delta Speaker Calls for Greater Stakeholder Commitment to National Development

By Anne Azuka

The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and National Treasurer of the Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has called for greater commitment from critical stakeholders in advancing Nigeria’s unity and development.

Guwor made the call on Sunday during the 2nd Anniversary Thanksgiving Service of the 10th Benue State House of Assembly, held at St. Mark’s Parish, Apir, in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

Speaking as a special guest at the event, the Delta Speaker emphasized the need for collaboration among State Houses of Assembly and other democratic institutions in ensuring the continued progress of the country. He expressed satisfaction that democracy is taking root in Nigeria and commended lawmakers for their dedication to good governance.

Guwor congratulated his Benue counterpart, Rt. Hon. Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh, along with Principal Officers and members of the Assembly, for the successful two-year legislative session and their resolve to appreciate God through a special thanksgiving service.

Describing his presence at the occasion as an honor, Guwor lauded the Benue lawmakers for their commitment to effective representation, oversight, and legislative duties. He further expressed hope for continued success and greater impact by the House in future sessions.

Dressed in Tiv traditional attire to mark the visit, the Speaker’s gesture symbolized solidarity with the people of Benue State.

A statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, noted that the occasion also provided the Delta Speaker an opportunity to commiserate with the government and people of Benue State over recent killings in parts of the state.

Rt. Hon. Guwor condemned all forms of violence and called for an end to such tragic incidents. He offered prayers for the repose of the souls of the deceased and for God’s comfort upon their bereaved families, while urging the restoration of permanent peace, law, and order in the state.

He was accompanied to the thanksgiving service by the Member representing Ughelli South Constituency, Hon. Festus Utuama, along with some political aides.
