As Nigeria prepares to celebrate its 65th Independence Anniversary, the Federal Government has unveiled plans to honour 250 outstanding Nigerians across various sectors for their exceptional contributions to national development.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony of the Compendium of 250 Top Performers in Nigeria, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen. George Akume, CON, described the project as a historic initiative to celebrate the resilience, innovation, and patriotism of Nigerians.
In a statement signed by Director of Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen, Akume, represented by the Permanent Secretary Overseeing the General Services Office, Mallam Mohammed Sanusi Danjuma, FCNA, said the compendium would showcase the nation’s human capital and inspire the youth toward excellence and national unity.
“The initiative provides an opportunity to reflect on and project the values that define the Nigerian spirit. It will serve as a beacon of hope and a reminder of our shared commitment to nation-building,” he said.
The compendium will also highlight key government achievements, feature 11 top-performing state governors, and include activities such as a quiz competition, exhibitions of innovation and creativity, patriotic music, and a concert.
Permanent Secretary, Political and Economic Affairs Office, Engr. Nadungu Gagare, FNAIE, noted that the compendium would act as a strategic tool for recognizing excellence in governance, inspiring talent, and shaping positive narratives about Nigeria locally and globally.
Earlier, the convener and CEO of OyanaHealth Ltd, Jennifer Chinyelu Obiasor, revealed that the project, themed “Nigeria Celebrates”, aims to recognize 250 Nigerian trailblazers worldwide in fields such as medicine, business, technology, entertainment, sports, and diplomacy.
