Over 300 Middle Belt Groups Endorse Gov. Mutfwang for Second Term

By Israel Adamu, Jos

Over 300 leaders representing various ethnic nationalities in the Middle Belt region have passed a vote of confidence on the Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, commending his inclusive governance and endorsing him for a second term in office.

The leaders noted that despite challenges, Governor Mutfwang has demonstrated exemplary leadership by stabilizing both human and capital development in the state.

According to them, no previous administration in the history of Plateau has matched Mutfwang’s achievements, particularly his appointment of a Senior Special Assistant on Middle Belt Ethnic Nationalities Affairs — the first of its kind.

“We, the leaders of over 300 ethnic nationalities of the Middle Belt on the Plateau, after a crucial deliberation, wish to express our utmost confidence in the leadership of Governor Caleb Mutfwang and his deputy, Ngo Josephine Piyo,” they said in a joint statement.
“This is because of his commitment to peace, security, infrastructural development, and inclusive governance, which has earned our highest commendation.”

The endorsement followed a review meeting held on Sunday in Jos.

The leaders pledged to mobilize their people to participate actively in the upcoming voter registration exercise and urged the governor to further address insecurity, youth empowerment, and agricultural development.

Dan Kwada, Senior Special Assistant on Middle Belt Ethnic Nationalities and Middle Belt Affairs, confirmed the development, saying:

“We were here for a review meeting of Middle Belt ethnic nationalities on the Plateau, and after our discussions, the people decided to pass a vote of confidence on Governor Mutfwang.

What has happened is just a tip of the iceberg compared to what is coming. This endorsement is a testament to Governor Mutfwang’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of the Plateau people, as well as to security, peace, infrastructural development, and inclusive governance.”

Kwada further disclosed that the meeting had representatives from Southern Kaduna, Nasarawa, Benue, Zuru, Borno, Taraba, and Gombe states — altogether representing nearly 40 ethnic nationalities — who unanimously backed the governor.

“They have never seen this kind of leadership. Governor Caleb Mutfwang has emerged as a new political leader in the Middle Belt region, and the people will continue to look up to him for leadership and direction anytime, any day,” Kwada added.
