The Plateau State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Ephraim Usman, has rated the performance of the Executive Chairman of Mikang Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Bernard Alkali, as outstanding compared to his peers, citing the accelerated pace of development across the council.
The commendation was given in Tunkus during a tripartite event that featured the presentation of official vehicles to principal officers of the executive and legislative arms, distribution of motorcycles to security agencies, party executives, okada riders, and departments, as well as the flag-off of Sato Toilets aimed at curbing open defecation.
Chief Usman appreciated Plateau State Governor, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, for the prompt release of funds to the councils. He urged residents to continue supporting the governor’s administration to attract more dividends of good governance, assuring the people of Mikang that more developmental projects are on the way.
In his remarks, Hon. Alkali pledged to surpass the expectations of his people, while calling for their maximum cooperation. He announced the appointment of new aides who are expected to bring experience and capacity to his administration. He also presented assorted grains for distribution across the 18 electoral wards to support vulnerable residents.
Highlights of the occasion included the presentation of items by invited dignitaries and goodwill messages from the party, the traditional council, and the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Caroline Dafur Panglang.
The event was attended by former council chairman Hon. Daniel Kangmi, and Hon. Isa Kongwai, among others.
