The Plateau State Drugs and Medical Commodities Management Agency (PS-DMCMA) has vowed to intensify its crackdown on fake and expired products circulating in the state.
Director General of the agency, Pharm. Kim Bot, made the pledge following the recent interception of several substandard drugs and consumables in shops and stalls across Langtang North Local Government Area.
Langtang North Chairman, Hon. Pirfa Tyem, had earlier warned that such products endanger lives and would not be tolerated.
Responding, Pharm. Bot said the agency, established by Governor Caleb Mutfwang, has been empowered to monitor, trace, and flag substandard medications across the state.
“This is unacceptable in Plateau State, and we will not tolerate it. We are already going harder on those responsible for these acts,” he said.
He added that the agency will work closely with Langtang North, other local councils, and relevant bodies to stamp out counterfeit products.
According to him, Governor Mutfwang remains committed to safeguarding citizens by supporting the agency’s efforts to rid the state of fake and substandard drugs.
