Tinubu Gives Joy to Abuja Locals, Flags Off Community Road Network

By Joyce Remi-Babayeju

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given joy to Tunga Madaki locals as the FCT Minister Barr. Nysome Wike flagged off a community road network to connect nine communities and the Abuja International Airport.

The FCT Minister on Monday at Tunga Madaki flagged -off the construction of access road bypassing the airport’s second runway from Bill Clinton Drive to Tunga Madaki Settlement.

Wike said that the road construction of the road network of more than seven kilometers with four span bridges is one of the requests of the communities to Mr. President that is being fulfilled.

He said, “One of the things that the communities asked for that they have to be connected; they have to be linked up with roads. It is quite unfair that they are releasing their land for a second runway, and yet they have no access to even go to the airport? It does not make sense.”

“Today, the 29th of September 2025, we are here to the glory of God and to fulfill the promise made by Mr. President to the people of Tunga Madaki settlement. This is the essence of the whole thing about the Renewed Hope Agenda.”

Wike stated that the new road span when completed in June next year will attract development to the communities.

He congratulated the locals for the road construction flag off for nine communities in Tunga Madaki, an abandoned community.

Nine communities that have been abandoned several years. Nine communities, nobody knew that they existed. But by the grace of God, through Mr. President, all of us are aware of what we call Tunga Madaki settlements that make up not less than nine communities.

The u. FCT Minister of State, Dr Mariya Mahmoud noted that provision of an alternative access route that bypasses the airport second runway, would significantly ease traffic along Bill Clinton Drive, omes with the benefits of enhanced security and convenience for airport users, and open up Tunga Madaki and adjoining settlements to socio-economic opportunities.

According to her, “More importantly, the inclusion of a 4-span bridge demonstrates the administration’s determination to ensure resilience and durability in our infrastructure, while also guaranteeing seamless connectivity for motorists and residents.”
