NCDMB Applauds ESSO’s $23m Shorebase Project at LADOL

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has commended ESSO Nigeria Limited for commencing construction of a $23 million shorebase facility at the LADOL Deep Offshore Logistics Base, describing it as a boost to Nigeria’s oil and gas logistics capacity. The facility, which includes administrative buildings, warehouses and storage areas, is expected to support deepwater operations and strengthen supply chain efficiency.

Speaking at the groundbreaking in Lagos, NCDMB Executive Secretary Felix Omashola Ogbe, represented by Austin Uzoka, said the project aligns with efforts to position Nigeria as a competitive offshore logistics hub.

He noted that evolving global supply chain challenges highlight the importance of building resilient local infrastructure. He added that projects like the Dangote Refinery have strengthened Nigeria’s oil and gas value chain in recent years. Ogbe urged ESSO to adopt financing arrangements that support timely delivery while minimising borrowing costs for local partners. He also called for increased utilisation of Nigerian expertise in executing the project.

Managing Director of ExxonMobil affiliates in Nigeria, Jagir Baxi, said the investment reflects the company’s long-term commitment to the country and will create jobs while building local capacity. The event was attended by stakeholders including Bank of Industry and LADOL management led by Amy Jadesimi.
