Police to Begin Enforcement of Tinted Glass Permit in Kogi

By Noah Ocheni, Lokoja

The Kogi State Police Command has announced that enforcement of the nationwide ban on vehicles with tinted glass without a permit will commence in the state on Thursday, October 2, 2025.

This was contained in a statement issued in Lokoja on Tuesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya. He explained that the enforcement is in line with the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Act, 2004, which he said is critical to national security considerations.

According to Aya, the decision follows the expiration of a grace period earlier granted to vehicle owners to regularize their permits. He noted that the grace period was designed to give motorists ample time to obtain the required documentation. The command urged residents of the state to cooperate fully with enforcement officers, stressing that vehicles with tinted glasses must present valid permits during the exercise.
