NNPC Foundation Boosts Economy with Agricultural Intervention, Say Kano Farmers

By Jabiru Hassan

Farmers in Kano State have commended the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Foundation for its intervention in the agricultural sector, describing it as a key driver of economic growth and food security.

Their remarks followed the conclusion of a three-day training program on modern agricultural techniques and market access strategies, organized for vulnerable farmers in Kano.

Speaking at the close of the training, Alhaji Mustapha Abdullahi from Kura Local Government Area said the initiative came at a crucial time when farmers were in need of support to improve yields during both dry and wet seasons. He noted that the program would help boost productivity and enhance farmers’ livelihoods.

Another participant, Abbas A. Abbas, applauded the Foundation for including women farmers in the program, stressing that many had embraced agriculture as a sustainable occupation. He appealed for more training slots to be allocated to Kano State, citing the maturity and commitment demonstrated by participants during the sessions.

Abbas further observed that NNPC Foundation made a “wise choice” by prioritizing agriculture in its programs, as this would not only boost the national economy but also strengthen food security and rural development.

Our correspondent reports that the three-day training was carefully designed to target selected vulnerable farmers, ensuring that the intervention reached those most in need of support.
