Gov Mutfwang’s Re-Election, Most Noble Ambition for Plateau – Commissioner

By Israel Adamu, Jos

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Plateau State, Hon. Chief Ephraim Usman Gar, has described the re-election of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang as the most noble and urgent ambition for the state’s progress.

Chief Usman Gar made the declaration while launching a movement tagged VOTCA – an acronym for Vote Caleb Again – at his residence in Jos.

He said Plateau State was at a crucial juncture in its history and needed continuity in governance to consolidate recent gains.

“There is no ambition more important, more urgent, or more noble than ensuring the re-election of Governor Mutfwang,” the commissioner stated.

He praised Governor Mutfwang’s leadership qualities, describing him as “a rare gift to the state, a leader whose assertiveness, clarity of purpose, and unwavering prioritisation of unity have steered Plateau through turbulent political waters.”

Chief Usman Gar said the governor had remained a stabilising force during a period of heightened political tension and sectional interests, putting the state above personal or political considerations.

Highlighting Governor Mutfwang’s achievements, he pointed to infrastructural renewal, investment in human capital, and deliberate efforts to foster unity across ethnic and political divides as proof of purposeful leadership.

“It would be a monumental setback for Plateau to derail from this progressive path. God forbid!” he declared.

He added that a second term for Governor Mutfwang would allow the administration to consolidate its reforms and reposition Plateau among the leading states in Nigeria.

Quoting scripture, he said: “Just as Joshua stood before the people and declared, ‘Choose ye this day whom you will serve,’ as for me and my house, we have chosen to follow the path of progress, unity, and development under the leadership of His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang.”

Addressing questions about his own senatorial ambition for Plateau Central, the commissioner explained that consultations were ongoing with stakeholders but that his political aspirations were secondary to the goal of ensuring the governor’s return in 2027.

“Whatever ambition I have is fully aligned with consolidating the strides of His Excellency. At this moment, the collective project is Mutfwang 2027; nothing else supersedes that,” he stressed.

A delegation from PDP Ward Two in Mangu, led by the ward chairman, the councillor representing the ward, and other stakeholders, attended the unveiling of the movement. They described Chief Usman Gar’s initiative as timely and selfless and pledged their unwavering support.
