Kaduna: Foundation Protests Demolition of Property, Seeks Gov. Uba Sani’s Intervention

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

Members of the OneAgape Foundation on Tuesday staged a peaceful protest in Kaduna over the demolition of their property located at Babban Saura community, calling on Governor Uba Sani to intervene and ensure justice is served.

The protesters, who carried placards with inscriptions such as “We need justice,” “OneAgape Foundation needs justice,” and “Enough is enough,” alleged that the land in question was legally acquired with all necessary documents obtained before construction began.

Speaking during the protest, the Foundation’s Project Manager, Pedro Obhafuoso, explained that the demolished property was intended to house a football academy, a solar energy training centre, and a skill acquisition hub aimed at empowering youths in Kaduna and beyond.

“We acquired this land legally and obtained all required permits before we began development. Everything was properly documented. So, we were shocked when armed men came and demolished the property without any prior notice,” he lamented.

Obhafuoso alleged that the demolition was carried out by individuals claiming to represent government agencies, noting that several meetings with the Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS) and the Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Agency (KASUPDA) had failed to resolve the issue.

“At one of the meetings, we were told that the government would relocate us to another site and provide new documents at no cost, but our question remains—why offer us another land when this one was legally acquired?” he queried.

He appealed to Governor Uba Sani to wade into the matter, describing him as a leader known for justice and inclusiveness.

“We know him as a man of fairness and we believe he will not allow such injustice to happen under his administration,” Obhafuoso said.

He added that the incident had shaken the confidence of foreign partners who had already invested in the project, warning that such actions could discourage future investors from bringing development projects to Kaduna State.
