Minister’s Aide Empowers 300 Pupils in Lagos Through School Support Initiative

By Israel Adamu, Jos

The Abosede Tomori Foundation (ATF) has distributed educational materials to 300 indigent pupils across public primary schools in Lagos under its “Back to School” Initiative.

The outreach, which took place in the Ejigbo and Isolo Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), provided pupils with school bags, exercise books, writing materials, and other essentials to support their learning.

Founder of the foundation and Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Segun Tomori, disclosed this to journalists, noting that the intervention aims to ease the financial burden on struggling families as the new academic session begins.

“This ‘Back to School’ outreach was designed to assist less-privileged pupils with basic learning materials and reduce the financial pressure on parents,” Tomori said. “The Schools Intervention Programme (SIP) remains a core pillar of our mission.”

Tomori added that the latest effort marks the second major community intervention by the foundation since its inauguration in July 2025. Earlier this year, ATF provided free medical services to 250 residents of Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II, distributed 130 bags of rice, and awarded N50,000 cash grants each to 50 small business owners.

The benefitting schools include Oladele Alake Primary School, Low-Cost Housing Estate Primary Schools 1 and 2 in Ejigbo, Ansar-ud-Deen Nursery and Primary School, and Ajao Estate Primary School in Isolo.

Tomori explained that the foundation was established to honour the legacy of his late mother, Abosede Tomori, whose lifelong passion was helping the underprivileged. He said the foundation’s future focus areas include educational infrastructure development, skills training, and youth scholarships.

“We are committed to leveraging our network and influence at the federal level not just to give back, but to drive meaningful change at the grassroots,” he said. “Supporting education remains one of our top priorities.”

Tomori also outlined the foundation’s five thematic areas of intervention: health outreach, skills development and scholarship for disadvantaged youths, basic education support through the SIP, food packs for needy families, and cash grants to strengthen Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

He affirmed that the initiative will be expanded to other parts of Lagos and beyond, reaffirming ATF’s commitment to advancing inclusive development and education access in Nigeria.
