Champions League: Osimhen’s Hat-Trick Stuns Ajax, Barcelona Escape Brugge, Newcastle And Chelsea Drop Points

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen delivered a sensational performance in Amsterdam on Wednesday night, firing Galatasaray to a commanding 3-0 victory over Ajax in the UEFA Champions League.

The Super Eagles forward was unstoppable, netting all three goals to silence the Dutch fans and push the Turkish champions closer to the knockout stage.

After a cagey first half, Osimhen broke the deadlock in the 59th minute with a powerful header from Leroy Sané’s pinpoint cross. He doubled the lead seven minutes later from the penalty spot after Youri Baas handled the ball in the area. The Nigerian completed his hat-trick in the 78th minute with another composed penalty following a second handball, this time by Gerald Alders — sealing his first-ever Champions League hat-trick for Galatasaray.

In Belgium, Barcelona were held to a thrilling 3-3 draw by Club Brugge. Teenage sensation Lamine Yamal starred for Hansi Flick’s side, scoring once and creating several chances, while Brugge’s Carlos Forbs shone with two goals and an assist in a pulsating contest.

At St James’ Park, Newcastle United continued their impressive European form with a 2-0 win over Athletic Bilbao. Dan Burn opened the scoring with a towering header before Joelinton sealed the win after halftime — marking Newcastle’s third consecutive Champions League victory.

Chelsea, meanwhile, had to settle for a 2-2 draw away to Qarabag in Azerbaijan. Estevao Willian gave the Blues an early lead, but they fell behind before Alejandro Garnacho salvaged a point with a cool finish late in the match.

Elsewhere, Manchester City cruised past Borussia Dortmund 4-1, Bayer Leverkusen edged Benfica 1-0, Inter Milan defeated Kairat 2-1, and Atalanta secured a narrow 1-0 win over Marseille.
