An All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Yenagoa Constituency 3, George Iwe-Ebiya, has called for equitable representation through rotational zoning, urging stakeholders to consider Ward 13 in the ongoing screening process.
Speaking to journalists in Yenagoa during the party’s screening exercise, Iwe-Ebiya said Ward 13 (Biseni) has not produced a representative since the return of democracy in 1999.He noted that Ward 12 and Zarama communities have previously held the seat, citing past representatives including David Obuma, Franklin, and Gentle Emelah.
According to him, rotating the position to Ward 13 would promote fairness and inclusiveness in the constituency’s political process. Iwe-Ebiya, who recently resigned as Special Assistant to Governor Douye Diri on General Duties, said his background as a legislative aide and his administrative experience have prepared him for effective representation. “I am committed to sponsoring policies that support development and strengthen the link between the people and government,” he said.
He also commended the APC screening committee for conducting what he described as a thorough process and appealed for consideration of what he termed the underrepresentation of Ward 13. The aspirant urged party members and other contestants to prioritise unity and peaceful engagement, adding that inclusive participation would strengthen democratic outcomes in the constituency.
