The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and ex-Governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, wanted over allegations of conspiracy and dishonest conversion of $14,859,257.
According to a public notice issued on Monday by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the funds in question were part of an investment made by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) in Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Limited for refinery construction.
The statement reads in part:
“The public is hereby notified that Timipre Sylva, 61, from Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, is wanted by the EFCC in connection with an alleged case of conspiracy and dishonest conversion of $14,859,257. The notice follows a warrant issued by the Lagos State High Court on November 6, 2025.”
The commission urged anyone with information about Sylva’s whereabouts to contact any of its offices nationwide or report to the nearest police station or security agency.
Sylva, a prominent figure in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector and a key political ally of the current administration, is yet to respond to the development.
