Igoche Mark Welcomes Nomination of Gen. Musa as Nigeria’s New Defence Minister

Basketball promoter Igoche Mark has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for nominating General Christopher Gwabin Musa as Nigeria’s Minister of Defence designate. The nomination, conveyed to the Senate on Monday in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, follows the resignation of former Defence Minister Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar. In a statement on Tuesday, Mark praised the President’s decision and described Gen. Musa as a disciplined and results-driven leader whose background reflects excellence and commitment.Mark noted that Gen. Musa’s reputation within and outside the military aligns with the qualities required to strengthen Nigeria’s defence sector. “General Musa embodies excellence, dedication, hard work, and a winning mindset,” he said.He added that the nominee’s leadership qualities extend beyond his military achievements. “As a fellow basketball enthusiast, I know he’s a team player who turns challenges into opportunities,” Mark stated.

Highlighting the broader responsibilities ahead, Mark expressed confidence in Gen. Musa’s ability to tackle Nigeria’s evolving security concerns. “The court of life is bigger than the basketball court. General Musa will lead with courage and address Nigeria’s defence challenges,” he said.Mark also extended appreciation to President Tinubu for selecting what he described as a capable and strategic leader for the defence portfolio. “Thank you, Mr. President, for recognizing a true leader. Nigeria is in capable hands,” he remarked.

According to Mark, Gen. Musa’s combination of military expertise and personal discipline positions him well for the role. He expressed optimism that the nominee’s approach to leadership will contribute positively to the nation’s security architecture.“Excellence is contagious,” Mark added, noting that the Defence Ministry stands to gain from Gen. Musa’s professional ethos and leadership style. The Senate is expected to begin the screening process following the receipt of the President’s nomination letter.
