Tinubu Confirms Death of Anthony Joshua’s Coach, Personal Trainer After Phone Call With Boxer

President Bola Tinubu has confirmed the identities of the two people who died in the car crash involving heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua on Monday.

The accident occurred along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway when a Lexus SUV conveying Joshua and members of his team collided with a stationary truck. While Joshua survived the crash with minor injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Lagos, two members of his entourage lost their lives.

In a statement shared on social media after speaking with the boxer, President Tinubu disclosed that the victims were Kevin Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami, both close associates of Joshua. Ghami was Joshua’s long-time friend and strength and conditioning coach, while Latif served as his personal trainer.

“AJ assured me he is receiving the best possible care,” Tinubu wrote. “I also spoke with his mother and prayed with her. She was deeply appreciative of the call.”

Joshua is reported to be in stable condition and responding well to medical treatment.

The president also noted that Joshua, Latif, and Ghami had arrived in Nigeria a few days earlier for the yuletide holiday, following the former heavyweight champion’s recent knockout victory over Jake Paul.

Tragically, Latif and Joshua had shared a video on Instagram of themselves playing table tennis just six hours before the fatal accident, a moment that has since drawn emotional reactions from fans and the boxing community.
