Dogara Hails Tambuwal at 60, Calls Him a Statesman

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives and Chairman, Board of Trustees of the National Credit Guarantee Company Limited (NCGC), Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, has paid glowing tribute to Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal on the occasion of his 60th birthday, describing him as a statesman whose life has been defined by service, humility, and bridge‑building.

Dogara, who succeeded Tambuwal as Speaker in 2015, said the milestone birthday is not only a personal celebration but also an opportunity for the nation to reflect on the remarkable contributions of a leader who has consistently placed service above self. He noted that Tambuwal’s tenure as Speaker of the House of Representatives between 2011 and 2015 was marked by courage, consensus‑building, and an unwavering commitment to the ideals of democracy.

“Senator Tambuwal distinguished himself as a leader who could rise above partisan divides to defend the rule of law and strengthen our institutions. His leadership brought stability to the legislature at critical moments in our national history, and his voice has remained a beacon of moderation and wisdom in Nigeria’s political landscape,” Dogara said in his tribute.

He further highlighted Tambuwal’s service as Governor of Sokoto State for eight years, noting that his administration deepened reforms and strengthened governance in ways that continue to resonate. According to Dogara, Tambuwal’s political journey reflects a rare blend of vision, inclusivity, and resilience that has inspired younger generations to embrace politics as a platform for service rather than self‑interest.

“At 60, Senator Tambuwal stands as a shining example of dedication to justice, fairness, and inclusivity. His contributions to democracy and governance remain indelible, and his life is a testimony that politics can be a noble calling when anchored on service, humility, and vision,” Dogara stated.

On behalf of the National Credit Guarantee Company Limited (NCGC) and in his personal capacity, Dogara extended heartfelt congratulations to Tambuwal, praying for renewed strength, wisdom, and fulfillment as he continues to serve the nation with distinction.

“Happy 60th Birthday, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal. Nigeria salutes your service and celebrates your life,” Dogara concluded.
