Oborevwori Urges NYSC Corps Members to Uphold Safety, Discipline, National Unity

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to avoid actions capable of endangering their safety or undermining Nigeria’s peace, unity, and development.

The governor gave the charge on Friday at the swearing-in ceremony of 2026 Batch A, Stream 1 corps members at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Issele-Uku, Aniocha North Local Government Area. He was represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, ThankGod Trakiriowei.Oborevwori called on the corps members to uphold discipline, loyalty, dedication, and patriotism, noting that Nigeria needs young people committed to development through integrity, innovation, and strong moral values. He explained that the orientation programme is designed to promote national integration, security awareness, leadership, entrepreneurship, and personal development, while also exposing participants to the culture and traditions of Delta State.

The governor assured the corps members of the state government’s commitment to their welfare and safety, disclosing that projects at the orientation camp, including a perimeter fence and facility upgrades, had been approved to improve security and infrastructure.

Earlier, the Delta State NYSC Coordinator, John Kwaghe, said 1,850 prospective corps members—771 males and 1,079 females—were registered. He commended the state government’s support but appealed for the construction of an additional borehole to address water supply challenges at the camp.
