Governors Hope Uzodimma of Imo State and Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, alongside former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, have called for unity, coordinated messaging, and grassroots mobilisation ahead of future elections. They spoke at a strategic communications and mobilisation summit held at Government House, Asaba, which brought together party stakeholders from the South-South region.
Uzodimma, who also serves as Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, said the summit produced a work plan outlining timelines and responsibilities to support policy communication and engagement.
He noted that while some macroeconomic indicators show improvement, there remains a gap between policy outcomes and public perception, urging participants to engage communities directly and communicate government initiatives clearly. Oborevwori described the summit as a platform to strengthen party structures, stressing that unity and consistent messaging are critical to effective political mobilisation.
Okowa said the initiative aims to equip participants with tools to communicate government reforms, including economic and social policies, to the grassroots. Other speakers highlighted the importance of sustained engagement and coordinated efforts across states and local government areas.
The event was attended by party officials, including governors, national executives, and lawmakers from the region. Participants were urged to implement strategies discussed at the summit to enhance outreach and public engagement.
