Jos South Local Government Area has launched a Local Action Plan (2026–2030) on Women, Peace and Security, alongside a Local Implementation Group to drive its execution, in a bid to expand women’s role in peacebuilding and community security.

The initiative was unveiled at the council secretariat in Bukuru, with support from Women for Positive Peacebuilding Initiative (WOPPI), the Strengthening Peace and Resilience in Nigeria Programme (SPRiNG), and the United Kingdom Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.

WOPPI Executive Director, Lantana Abdullahi, described the plan as a framework for tracking progress and strengthening women’s participation in peace and security efforts. She said it aligns with state and national strategies while promoting inclusive, community-driven solutions.
