Nigerian music star Davido has opened up about his evolving career goals, revealing that winning a Grammy is no longer a major focus for him.
Speaking on the Official UK Afrobeats Chart Show with Eddie Kadi, the award-winning artiste reflected on his achievements so far, including performing on global stages, selling out major venues, and earning multiple Grammy nominations in recent years.
Davido explained that having reached these milestones, his focus is shifting toward making music that truly represents his identity. He emphasized that his upcoming projects will lean more into authentic African sounds rather than tailoring his style to fit Western audiences.
He also highlighted his strong fan base in South Africa, noting that a significant portion of the population is familiar with and appreciates his music. Over the years, he has collaborated with several South African artistes and earned multiple certifications within the country’s music industry.
The singer’s comments signal a new phase in his career—one centered on artistic authenticity and cultural influence rather than international awards.
