Online Asset Declaration Signals Major Breakthrough in Anti-Corruption Fight – Olukoyede

The Executive Chairman of the (EFCC), , has described the introduction of online asset declaration by the (CCB) as a major step forward in the fight against corruption.

Olukoyede made this known in a goodwill message at the opening of a national workshop themed: “Strengthening Compliance with the Code of Conduct for Public Officers in Nigeria and the Deployment of the Online Assets and Liabilities Declaration Systems (OALDS),” organised in collaboration with the , the and .

Speaking through the EFCC Director of Public Affairs, , Olukoyede said the initiative would enhance transparency, promote accountability and build trust in governance.

He noted that the transition from manual to digital asset declaration would eliminate human interference and create digital footprints for real-time monitoring. According to him, this would also aid law enforcement agencies in verifying asset declarations by public officers.

He described the system as revolutionary, stating that it would simplify the declaration process while addressing longstanding challenges associated with the manual system.

Olukoyede commended the CCB and its partners for engaging heads of service from sub-national governments, urging them to demonstrate commitment in implementing the initiative.

He charged public officers across all levels of government to embrace the innovation to strengthen integrity and accountability in public service.

The EFCC chairman also assured the CCB of the commission’s continued support in enforcing compliance with asset declaration laws, expressing optimism that the new system would improve adherence among public officials nationwide.
