Plateau Violence: Kogi Orders Evacuation of Students from UNIJOS

Governor Ahmed Ododo has directed the evacuation of Kogi State students from the University of Jos (UNIJOS) following the institution’s closure amid recent violence in Plateau State.

The move comes after a deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area, where dozens of people were reported killed.

In a statement on Friday, the governor’s media aide, Ismail Isah, said the decision was taken to safeguard students, particularly those living off-campus and in vulnerable areas.

Ododo said the Special Adviser on Youth and Students Matters, Oladele Nihi, has been deployed to Jos to coordinate the evacuation alongside relevant authorities.

He added that arrangements have been made to transport the students back to Kogi State under adequate security.

The governor also commended the response of President Bola Tinubu and security agencies working to restore calm in Plateau.

He assured parents that the safety of Kogi students remains a priority and urged those affected to cooperate with officials during the evacuation process.

Authorities said the state government will continue to monitor the situation closely.
