APC Rejects ADC Claims, Faults Call for INEC Chairman’s Removal

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed allegations by a faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing claims of interference by President Bola Tinubu in the party’s internal crisis as unfounded.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, APC National Secretary Ajibola Basiru said the accusations were misleading and aimed at deflecting from internal disputes within the ADC.

Basiru stated that the President has no constitutional authority to interfere in the affairs of political parties or the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He said the ADC’s leadership crisis stemmed from internal disagreements and legal challenges, adding that INEC acted in compliance with a Court of Appeal ruling in handling the dispute.

The APC also criticised calls by the ADC faction for the removal of INEC Chairman, describing the demand as inappropriate and lacking legal basis.

According to Basiru, ongoing litigation involving the party requires all parties to respect judicial processes, warning that actions taken outside the law could have consequences.

The ruling party further urged the ADC faction to resolve its internal issues rather than attributing them to external influence.
