Nigerian music star, Davido, has expressed growing doubts about pursuing a career in politics, citing concerns influenced by the experiences of other celebrities who ventured into the political arena.
During a recent livestream on Twitch with streamer Davrel, the singer noted that many entertainers who transitioned into politics have struggled to achieve meaningful success.
Davido explained that although he once had strong political ambitions, his accomplishments in the entertainment industry and the realities of politics have made him reconsider.
“Before, I wanted to go into politics, but honestly now, I see it differently. All the goodwill I’ve built over the years, my name, my career, and my fan base—it’s a delicate balance because of how things are perceived. The celebrities who have gone into politics haven’t really had a smooth transition,” he said.
“I feel like if you are a politician, then that’s your full-time calling. It’s a different profession entirely,” he added.
