Group Holds Easter Medical Outreach for Patients in Kaduna Community

A non-governmental organisation, the Grassroots Initiative for Good Governance and Development (GIGG&D), has conducted an Easter medical outreach for patients in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, aimed at supporting vulnerable groups and promoting community-driven healthcare.

The outreach took place at Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa Memorial Hospital and extended to the Child Welfare Primary Health Care Centre in the area. Organisers said the initiative was designed to improve patients’ comfort and contribute to their recovery.

During the visit, the group donated items including detergents, disinfectants, gloves, diapers, tissue paper, sanitary pads, and cash assistance to patients in paediatric, maternity, and accident and emergency wards.

Speaking at the event, GIGG&D convener Mathias Avong said the intervention was intended to ease challenges faced by patients and healthcare workers, while encouraging collective action in addressing healthcare needs. He called on corporate organisations and individuals to support vulnerable people beyond festive periods.

Beneficiaries, including nursing mothers and caregivers, expressed appreciation for the support, describing it as timely and encouraging. Healthcare workers also commended the initiative, noting that such efforts complement government healthcare services.

Hospital Secretary Rayyanu Sanusi praised the group’s intervention and urged other organisations to support similar humanitarian efforts. The outreach, organisers said, reflects the group’s commitment to community development and social support.
