Plateau Govt Seeks Public Input on Greater Jos Master Plan

By  Israel Adamu, Jos

The Plateau State Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning has called on residents and stakeholders to participate in the development of the Greater Jos Master Plan (2025–2050), aimed at transforming the state capital into a modern and sustainable city.

The ministry, in collaboration with Max Lock Nigeria & Partners, announced that a stakeholders’ engagement forum will hold on April 16, 2026, in Jos as part of efforts to ensure inclusive planning and broad-based input.

According to a statement signed by the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Sylvanus Dongtoe, the forum will bring together government officials, private sector players, community leaders and residents to contribute ideas toward the long-term development framework.

The Greater Jos Master Plan, the ministry said, is designed as a strategic roadmap to guide the physical and economic growth of Jos over the next 25 years.

It noted that the plan will focus on critical areas including infrastructure development, improved urban planning, enhanced security and better living standards for residents.

“The stakeholder engagement process is central to ensuring that the plan reflects the needs, aspirations and realities of the people,” the statement said.

The ministry added that the forum would provide an opportunity for inclusive dialogue and foster a sense of collective ownership of the city’s future.

Residents of Jos and other interested stakeholders were urged to attend and actively participate in the discussions, as their contributions will play a vital role in shaping a sustainable and economically vibrant city.

The engagement forum is scheduled to hold at the Millennium International Event Centre by 10:00 a.m.

The government reiterated its commitment to building a safer, more organised and livable Jos through collaborative planning and stakeholder-driven development initiatives.
