The Kaduna State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Edward Percy Masha, has warned that internal challenges within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) could escalate ahead of the 2027 elections if not properly managed.
In an interview in Kaduna, Masha said political outcomes in 2027 would be shaped by three key factors: economic conditions, security, and the credibility of the electoral process. He stated that the PDP in Kaduna remains active and plans to field candidates for all elective positions, including governorship and legislative seats.
Masha acknowledged internal challenges within the PDP but said efforts were ongoing to stabilise the party and strengthen its structures across the state. On recent defections to the APC, he said political realignments do not automatically translate into electoral success, noting that voter decisions ultimately determine outcomes.
The PDP chairman also cautioned that disputes arising from candidate selection processes within parties could trigger internal divisions if not handled transparently. He maintained that the PDP would provide a level playing field for aspirants and encourage consensus-building where necessary.
Masha urged political leaders to focus on governance outcomes, including improvements in living standards, employment, and infrastructure, rather than party competition alone. He expressed confidence that voters in Kaduna State would assess performance and make informed choices during the next general elections.
