Court sentences woman to 9 months imprisonment for assaulting co-wife

A Shari’a Court sitting in Rigasa, Kaduna on Tuesday sentenced a woman, Hauwa Babangida, for assaulting her junior co-wife Badiya Abdullahi.

The judge, Malam Dahiru Bamalli, sentenced Babangida after she pleaded guilty to assault.

The judge however gave the convict an option to pay a fine of N28,000.

Earlier, the complainant, Abdullahi  told the court that Babangida entered her room and beat her up, injuring her face badly.

She prayed court to intervene in the matter and get her justice.

In her defence, the convict told the court that she beat up Abdullahi she insulted her.

“I didn’t use any weapon. It was just a girl’s fight,”  she said.
