Cross River state government is silent on the presence of 28 Americans oil workers with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) lodging in Tinapa Lakeside Hotel in the outskirt of the City.
The Cross River State government had earlier designated the hotel as a backup isolation center for COVID-19.
Daybreak investigation reveals that controversy broke out when last week 35 American oil workers who landed in Lagos and were scheduled to board another flight to Calabar but the government reportedly refused them entry. However, Daybreak gathered that beside the 35 Americans who were denied entry, there are 28 other Americans, also oil workers who travelled by road from Port-Harcourt to Calabar and paid up for the entire accommodation in Tinapa Lakeside Hotel.
A highly dependable source confirmed that the Americans are in a forced self-quarantine and need to be given a clean bill of health before being taken to the oil rig where they work.
Meanwhile, the residents are in a lost trying to unravel the puzzle that the state has no Facility to test for COVID-19, neither does it have any oil rig facility that would have warranted the Americans to the state. The Cross River State government is yet to make any official statement.
