The Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the United Nations, Prof Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, has lost his mother, Daybreak reports.

He made this known late Wednesday via his verified Twitter handle.

Muhammad-Bande, who was on June 4, 2019 elected by the United Nations General Assembly as President of the 74th session, said she died on Wednesday morning.

He, however, did not disclose further details of her death or burial arrangements.

The diplomat appreciated friends from far and near for their support in his time of grief.

“I am grateful to all for the condolences on the passing of my mother this morning. Thank you for your prayers and word of comfort,” he tweeted.
