Ajimijere Congratulates Amb. Joseph Sola Iji on Appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Russia

By Jabiru Hassan

Engineer Olabode Jones Ajimijere, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State and Chief Executive Officer of the OJAS Foundation, has congratulated Ambassador Joseph Sola Iji on his appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the posting of 65 envoys to various foreign missions, a move aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s diplomatic presence and advancing the country’s foreign policy objectives across strategic global partners.

Reacting to the development, Engr. Ajimijere, who also serves as Chairman of Renewed Hope Global Russia, described the appointment of Ambassador Iji as a significant step in deepening diplomatic and economic relations between Nigeria and the Russian Federation.

Ajimijere noted that the ambassador’s experience in public service and diplomacy would be valuable in navigating the complex international environment and in promoting Nigeria’s interests abroad. According to him, the appointment also offers an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between Nigeria and Russia in areas such as trade, investment, education, and technology.

“As someone who has lived in Russia for many years, I understand the vast opportunities that exist for stronger engagement between both countries. With Ambassador Joseph Sola Iji at the helm of Nigeria’s mission in Moscow, I am confident that relations between Nigeria and Russia will grow stronger and deliver meaningful benefits for both nations,” Ajimijere said.

He further expressed optimism that the new ambassador would also strengthen engagement with Nigerians living in Russia and neighbouring countries, ensuring that the interests and welfare of the diaspora community remain a priority.

Ajimijere also pledged the support of Nigerians in Russia, as well as members of Renewed Hope Global Russia and the OJAS Foundation, towards the success of Ambassador Iji’s diplomatic assignment. He wished the ambassador a successful tenure and expressed confidence that his leadership would contribute positively to Nigeria’s international relations and national development.
