SOSG Should Integrate Almajiri Literacy Into Pondok System

By Muhammad Ibrahim,Sokoto

Member representing Bodinga,Range/SHUNI and Tureta in the the Federal House of Representatives Alhaji Balarabe SHEHU Kakale bequeathed a befitting skills and self employable Makarantar allowed education model to children where 21st century literary, numeracy, merit, character, creativity, innovation and ability to solve problems will reign.

Kakale who was addressing newsmen at the press center on Tsangaya reforms said the stakeholders are unanimous in agreement on the banning of street begging but not the classical Almajiranci.

He noted that the current system of conventional education is also broken and need reforms with massive injection of doses of vocational, technical and self employable skills as it has been plaques by years of indolence and unproductivity due to emphasis on the certificate qualification acquired by learners/students/graduates rather than what they can offer in terms of creativity,…..

Explaining the three types of Pondok systems of education,Kakale said the sources of income for the day-to-day running of the Pondok system are meager amount or no fees collected from students as school fees, contributions by the Pondok Alumni, donations from Zakkat and Waqaf committees and running of small scale businesses among others.

He observed with serious interest the main secret behind the all round development of development of Indonesia as the maintenance of Pondok system saying this is due to the fact the discipline, commitment, hospitality and humbleness that manifested in the Indonesian nationals at all levels being inspired into them within the Pondok system.

In addition to many other legal aims, all the different groups are pursuing the same objectives but in different ways and through different methodologies without any form of conflict among them.

He therefore call on the state government to domesticate the system with VTEAC as core curriculum of Qur’anic study, review an enhanced curriculum to prepare the Qur’anic students for the 21st century and numeracy literary, Hausa,Arabic,English and Chinese.

Many skilled and gifted children have technologically discovered and converted slate reading system along with voices.
