The Honourable member representing Shendam /Mikang /Shendam federal constituency, Alphonsus Komsol Longgap has explained the background of the proposed federal polytechnic, Shendam, saying the enabling bill is different from the bill for the establishment of another Polytechnic in Zandi, Jos East local government area of Plateau State.
Honorable Komsol made the clarification on the heels of a claim by some poorly informed members of his constituency who sought to misinform the public that “Komsol sold out” on the Polytechnic project for Shendam.
Cautioning his critics and traducers to be calm and tread carefully, the Honourable member reminisced that the bill and argument for the approval and establishment of a federal polytechnic in Shendam was begun by his predecessor in office, Honourable John Bull Shekaru, and that what he did upon assumption of office was to study the merits of the bill, an represent it for consideration and deliberation the House.
Komsol appealed to his constituents and the general public to appreciate parliamentary culture and traditions, noting that a bill must routinely go through first, second, and third/public hearing an other critical stages before transmission to the President to be passed into law.
Noting that his detractors are desperate and groping for a reason on which to hinge their mischievous plans to initiate a recall, the law maker said the bill for the establishment of a Polytechnic in Shendam is safe and still very much a work in progress.
He said there is a difference between the bill sponsored by the member representing Jos South /Jos East, Honourable Musa Baggos, and that for the establishment of another one in Shendam.
Komsol called on his detractors to focus on his development projects and programmes, and articulate all his initiatives to uplift the people and the constituency.
