Director General, Sani Abubakar Danladi Gubernatorial Campaign Organization, in Taraba state, Comrade Bobboi Bala Kaigama has accused the PDP of attempts to assassinate its gubernatorial candidate in the state by the attack on the APC Campaign convoy on Thursday in Wukari by hired PDP criminal gang.

Bobboi Bala Kaigama, who was speaking in a press briefing with newsmen in Jalingo said, the attack on the campaign convoy was a plan to kill the APC gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Sani Abubakar Danladi whose car was directly hit and bulleted.

The Campaign DG said the convoy was on transit to Ibi when it was blocked from the front and behind as armed gang unleashed a horrific attacked on members of his party using guns, machetes and knives.

He said the hired PDP gang looted all personal belonging from their vehicles, removing valuable spare parts and set them on fire. At the end of their attack about 10 people were shot and more than 10 cars were completely burnt down.

“The PDP Governor, Darius Dickson Ishaku left Wukari on Wednesday evening and the next day our convoy was viciously attacked, traumatized and robbed right inside the ancient city of Wukari without let or hindrance”

According to the Campaign DG, the terrifying party members evacuated their vehicles trying to flee from the scene and escaped to the nearby Police and DSS office, as the orgy of violence continued without intervention from the security agencies and elders in Wukari town following frantic calls for help were soldiers deployed from Zaki Biam arrived the scene to save the situation and evacuated the victim for safety.

Bobboi Kaigama further said, the perpetrators were well known PDP party thugs, who operated freely, boldly and without hindrance for more than 3hours a clear indication that they were fully sponsored and supported to commit this heinous crime.

He said Governor Ishaku has made an incoherent state broadcast accusing the APC of “invading” Wukari town and branding the attack to “clash between APC and UDP supporters”.

” we view this as not only callous and inhuman but also a clear attempt to cover the shame of unleashing terror on his citizens under the guise of political opposition “.

According to the DG, the Governor has already alarmed at the phenomenal growth of APC in the state within the last 3years and the unassailable popularity of the APC candidate, Alhaji Sani Abubakar rather than view this as referendum on his administration and make the necessary amends.

The DG said Governor Darius Ishaku has resorted to the old primitive style of unleashing terror and mayhem, sending a clear signal that the governor having lost all respect in the state, due to his non performance now wants to concentrate his energy on the twin malady of ethno-religious politics and violence.

Bobboi Bala Kaigama appealed to teeming APC supporters in the state to remain calm and demonstrate high restraints in the face of this desperate and unwarranted attack on APC across the state.

Reacting on the press statement the Taraba state commissioner for information Hon. Inusa Simon Dogari condemn in strong terms the desperation by the APC to link PDP and Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku to the campaign attack in Wukari.

Simon Dogari said the APC candidate, Sani Abubakar Danladi leaves violence anywhere and everywhere he has been. Saying it was also the violence character he destroyed the APC in Taraba state with other leaders of the party abandoning the party for him for the safety of their lives. That also explains why APC was unable to conduct primary election in Taraba.

The commissioner said the governor is unhappy with with what happen and called on politicians in the state to embraced peace and shun violence as they moved round in their campaign so that people will have the opportunity to vote freely in the forthcoming general election.
