Civil rights activist, Drags SON DG, 2 others to Court Over Nonpayment

A front line civil rights activist and convener of the Save Nigeria Movement, Solomon Semaka has dragged the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and two of her officials, Barr Barth Agwu , Technical advisor to the DG of SON and Mr Bola Fashino, head of media of the Organisation to court over non payment of consultancy fees and logistics.

In a demand notice written by his lawyers and sent to the director general, Standard Organisation Of Nigeria obtained by our correspondent, the activist highlighted none payment of his consultancy and logistics fees and indifferent attitude of the officials concerned as the cause of his legal action.

The demand notice highlighted that the Standard Organisation of Nigeria some time in February 2020, engaged Solomon Semaka for various public relations activities to restore the battered image of SON which job he did successfully since February 2020. The document further highlighted the sum of one million five hundred thousand naira as the pending payment due to the activist which has not been paid. It gave the Organisation (30 ) days to pay up failure of which proper litigation will ensure.

The activist wondered why individuals who have demonstrated patriotism in the support of institutions would be treated with such indifference by some officials to give chief executive officers a bad name.

The document further highlighted that at a time the image of the SON was impaired, the activist came to their rescue through the approval of the due of Barr Barth Agwu and Mr Bola Fashino, on behalf of the Standard Organisation.

He maintained that his works were acknowledged and celebrated on the SONS headquarters notice board and pavilion. The statement wondered why the officials will pay evil for good.

The document further said that every peaceful and conventional entreaties to recover the money has been ignored by the officials concerned hence the legal option, which is hoped to strengthen the legal jurisprudence and restore the the hope of a common man.
