Gov. Sule moves to equip stakeholders to protect their various communities from disaster

Nasarawa state government has commenced a two day stakeholders collaboration workshop on effective emergency preparedness and response.
Declaring the training open, at the Aliyu Akwe Banquet Hall Lafia, Governor Abdullahi Sule said the workshop is targeted at  imparting and improving knowledge and equipping stakeholders on how to protect their various communities in the  events of disaster.
Governor Sule, represented by his Deputy, Dr Emmanuel Akabe reiterated that his administration is determined to reduce the impact of disaster in communities.

He further stressed that  “Disaster has been part of our lives occurring virtually on daily basis around the globe ranging  from flood, wild fire, market fire, earthquake, commercial crisis among others”.
“It is for this reason that it became therefore imperative to involve major stakeholders,”
Stressing on the need for stakeholders to be adequately informed on how to manage disaster and crisis situations, Sule  charged all the stakeholders to pay adequate  attention to the training and exercise the skills when required.
Earlier, Chairman  Nasarawa State Management Agency (NASEMA), Barrister Zakari Zamani Alumaga disclosed that the need for the workshop cannot be overemphasized as the state is crises and disaster prone.
In his word he said, “local governments have not been very  much involved in disaster management, hence the need to train stakeholders and also create local government unit of the agency called Local Government Emergency Management Agency (LGEMA) became necessary. “
