Life Helpers Initiative, which is none governmental, none profit making organization has trained more than 150 youths involving male and female genders in Sokoto this year.
This was made known by the Executive Director of the Initiative, Tayo Fatinikun while addressing newsmen in his office, today.
He further disclosed that the training on skills acquisition accordingly include sewing, knitting of sweaters as well as other vocational fields among others adding that, the state government provide enabling environment and location through some Ministries in other to conduct their work saying they also collaborate with local governments.
As this year is very unique due to lockdown, “we slowed down a number of things especially in getting the immediate partnership to exhibit or provide our skills.”
Partnership is one of the challenging factors that created suspension of our training”.
He said there is also inadequate financial support, so the youths who found it difficult to access capital to start their various marketing should go along to other trade associations to labour in order to avoid vagrancy and unauthorized movements.
“My own advise to young people is to get to know what to do, learn a skill, and start the business, they should also know that as Life Helpers, we can assist them to learn one skill acquisition program or another”.
