Ewa’s Thought in Words

We are Africans

They say we are uncultured,
Barbaric and diseased
But I say we are Africans and we are the most beautiful people alive on planet earth.

They say we are the dark age,
Wretched and forsaken
I say we are the future… because Africa is and remains the bedrock of today’s civilization

They try to break us by painting us in many shades of grey,
Deploying a range of evil tools of  propaganda, intended to assassinate our hopes and rob us of our aspirations and good spiritedness but we are Africans, a people of good courage.

They tried to imprision our thoughts when they brought slavery to our domain and literally took captive many of our ancestors. Even at that, we remain proud to be called Africans.

Labelled for being resilient,
Framed for staying true,
they try to make us feel weak when indeed we are stronger, lying to us about being found when we have never been lost. We are Africans and we are here to stay.

They say we are poverty stricken yet they enrich themselves with our wealth and fascinate themselves with our mystery.
Frustrate our efforts and pretend to care but we are Africans and we remain unbroken.

They create wars within us, build walls around us, similar to how they cage animals in a zoo.
They tell us what we cannot do, where we cannot go and treat us as something for amusement but we are Africans and cannot be chained.

They use our brains, steal our inventions and grade us bimbos when indeed we are the bells as we were the first to make great strides in medicine, communication, architecture and food supply and security. Yet they mock our ways because they fear competition, but we are Africans and we are blessed.

Time and again they converge on our account, plotting and planning how to phase us out..
They make us lab rats, try to depopulate us right in our birth lands with such impunity, but we are Africans and cannot be less.
