Borno Governor commends security over recent successes in the North-East

Borno state Governor, Prof. BABAGANA UMARA ZULUM, has commended the efforts of the Nigerian Army for it’s recent successes in the fight to end Boko Haram insurgency and restore peace in the state and the Northeast zone.

The GOVERNOR made the commendation at the weekend,at the inauguration and presentation of staff of office to the Emir of Biu,Mai Mustpha Umar Mustpha ll.

Hear him,”I sincerely commend the efforts of the military in ending the BokoHaram insurgency that has claimed several lifes and property in the state”.

He showered encomiums on the armed forces,other security agencies, vigilantes and members of the Civilian JTF on achievements recorded in the Sambisa forest and lake Chad region.

He specifically praised the new enthusiasm and leadership qualities demonstrated,by the Chief of Army Staff Gen.Tukur Buratai and the  chief of the Air Staff,Air Marshall Sadik Abubakar, in the fight in the  frontline of the theatre of war.

It could be recalled, the insurgency which has lingered on for over a decade, has so far claimed about 40,000 lives and property worth,N3.42 trillion equivalent of about $9.2 billion in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states. 

“Let me commend the Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Air Staff and their Directors and principals in the military high command, the theatre Commander, the GOC, sector commanders, brigade commanders, commanding officers, men and officers in theatre of operation, the police and all other security agencies working in Borno for the support they have rendered.” 

He said the collaborative efforts and support rendered by the security  agencies, has not only secured the territorial integrity of the nation, but has returned about 1.5 million IDPs to their ancestral abodes.
