Nasarawa business association gets new leadership, pledges to support Gov. Sule

The Nasarawa Coalition of Business and Professional Association (NACOBPA), Wednesday elected new officials to pilot the affairs of the association for the next two years in the state and to support the state government on the policies and programmes that concerns Business in the state.

The Coalition who had her annual general meeting for the year 2020, at Abacha youth Centre conducted an election to elect new officials to take over from outgoing executive members whose tenure had expired in 2020.

The new leadership elected to oversee the affairs of Coalition are Mrs Hadiza Sabo, Chairperson, Safiyana Abubakar, Vice Chairman, Mammara Onyapa, Secretary general and Hon. Labaran Maina, Treasurer.

Others are Abdullahi Abubakar, public relations officer, Idris Muhammad, Financial Secretary, Organising/Welfare Secretary,Hannatu Luka and Bar Paul Magaji, Legal Adviser.

The Chairperson, Mrs Hadiza Sabo who spoke on behalf of the new officials, thanked the Centre for International Private Enterprise for their support, while promising to run an inclusive administration so as to move the Coalition to the greater height.

Sabo who explained that the Coalition comprises over 50 Association operated in the state, said she would bring her experience garnered over the years as a grassroot leader to bear by impacting business idea on the members of the Coalition.

Sabo said her administration would work closely with the state government so as to engender policies and programmes that would benefit business communities in Nasarawa State.

She commended her predecessor, Joana Bello for successful tenure and retinue of achievements recorded during her tenure as chairperson, while assurance the members to build and sustain on the progress.

Out going Chairperson, Mrs Joana Bello, while giving her valedictory speech, said the Coalition recorded a number of achievements in business community as well as leading the association on advocacy visit to policy makers of Nasarawa State under her stewardship.

According to her, the Coalition was able to identify challenges that impede business growth in the state and submit same to the Government of Nasarawa State with a view to fast tracking business growth.

Mrs Bello listed challenges that hindered business growth to include; insecurity lack of funds for micro and medium enterprises, lack of commodity processing centre and industrial zone, poor access to business premise, naming of street and lack of effective waste disposal system.
