Nasarawa state government says it has inspected the Oxford AztraZeneca Vaccines to ensure adequate supply and safe distribution across the 13 local government councils of the state for onward Vaccination.
Deputy Governor of Nasarawa state and Chairman of the Taskforce on COVID 19, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe who disclosed this during the inspection of the COVID 19 vaccines at the Central Store in Lafia.
Dr. Akabe added that he was at the Lafia Central Store to assess the condition of the cold room so as to ensure it is safe for the storage of the vaccines stressing that Governor Abdullahi Sule expressed delight with the cheering news of the arrival of sixty- one thousand doses of the vaccines in the state.
According to the Deputy Governor and Taskforce Chairman, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe. “The commencement of vaccination exercise in the state will begin in earnest as confirmed by the state”
He appreciated President Muhammad Buhari, the Presidential Taskforce on 19, and the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency for all the efforts they have put to ensure Nasarawa state get the vaccines which according to him would be distributed to all local councils for immediate vaccination of front line workers and other beneficiaries in the first phase of the exercise.
The COVID 19 Taskforce Chairman assured of delivery of more vaccines to further boost the vaccination exercise, adding that the Lafia Central Store is capable of taking over four million of the vaccines.
The Deputy Governor who was in company of the state Commissioner for health, Pharmacist Ahmed Baba Yahaya, Executive Chairman of the state Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Mohammed Usman Adis and other top officials of the Ministry of health, further reiterated that the aim of the vaccination exercise is to prevent people from getting COVID 19 and protect others from contracting the virus
