The Nigeria Police Force will continue its strides in contributing to the development of sportsmen and women in Nigeria just as it praised its personnel who won medals for states in the just concluded 20th National Sports Festival held in Benin, the Edo State capital.

The Force Sports Officer, DCP Patrick Atayero who spoke with journalists in Benin, said with over 250 of its personnel representing different states in 20 sporting events in the festival with over 60 gold and other medals won, the NPF will not relent in producing talents for national and international honours for the country.

DCP Atayero said their performance was based on the encouragement they received from the Force High Command as they will continue to encourage them to improve on it for the glory of the country.

The Sports officer noted that unlike in the past the next police games will be held in a police ground as done in its median edition in Obalende, Lagos, to encourage the development of its facilities in their training colleges.

He said with the games billed for Police Training College, Ikeja, Lagos next year will kick start the programme in its efforts to develop facilities for its personnel within the commands.

DCP Atayero added that their performance in the 20th NSF was a pointer that the Acting Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba era will be a new dawn for its men and women in sports.

He urged them to be committed and determined to keep the flag of the Force flying in all the competitions they found themselves as their performance will continue to keep the Police as the leading security outfit in sports circles in the country.

On the next police games, he said it will be one of the best organized competitions in the country in recent times as everything will be put in place to ensure it will be a huge success.

While expressing the Force appreciation of its personnel’s performance, noted that their efforts which was a big boost will has projected the force to be of positive impact in the country’s strives to excel in international competitions.
